About Us

The Baytown Area Amateur Radio Club (K5BAY) is a volunteer group of licensed amateur radio operators dedicated to emergency communications, public service, and technical fellowship in and around Baytown, Texas. We support the City of Baytown, its Emergency Operations Center, and surrounding communities with reliable communication when it matters most.

Our members train regularly in emergency communications procedures, message handling, and field operations to assist local emergency management, public safety, and community organizations during disasters, severe weather, and major events. We also provide communications support for civic activities and special events that benefit our community throughout the year.

Beyond emergencies, K5BAY promotes the broader amateur radio hobby through mentoring, licensing support, and hands‑on projects for new and experienced operators alike. Whether you are interested in preparedness, serving your community, or just getting on the air and learning something new, you will find a welcoming place here to learn, contribute, and grow as a radio operator
